For the 2017 Dallas Art Fair, Gallery Wendi Norris presents Post-Primitive, an exhibition of works by Ana Teresa Fernández, Eva Schlegel, and Peter Young. With work spanning from Austria, Mexico, and the United States from 1977 to the present, Post-Primitive ties together the threads of ethnography, architecture and the gaze into a cohesive exhibition about presence, perception and the power of depiction. Schlegel’s large-scale minimal and ethereal photographs of abstract architectural spaces balance the reverberating electricity of Young’s post-minimalist weave paintings. Both artists pair poetically with the Reinhardt-black, time-based self-portraits by Fernández.
