For Gallery Wendi Norris’ inaugural presentation at FOG Design+Art, we will highlight the gallery’s international and multigenerational program through historically significant masterpieces and new works by visionary, contemporary artists. Featuring paintings, works on paper, and sculptures by Leonora Carrington, Rohini Devasher, Maren Hassinger, Lisa Jo, Enrique Martínez Celaya, Leo Marz, Wolfgang Paalen, and Marie Wilson, this presentation will foreground these artists’ philosophical, scientific, and aesthetic inquiries that serve as the foundations of their practices. In particular, this exhibition will call attention to their use of natural elements—water, sky, and organic and inorganic matter—to interrogate systems of knowledge and shape their explorations of the environmental, material, and spiritual worlds.
