Mexican-born artist Julio César Morales returns to the Bay Area for two solo shows after a decade working in Arizona. “OJO,” now open at the Manetti Shrem Museum of Art at UC Davis, is a multimedia, mid-career survey focusing on new and recent work highlighting experiences of people at the Mexican-American border.
“My America,” opening Sept. 19 at Gallery Wendi Norris in San Francisco, presents work created in collaboration with the renowned Mexico City-based musician and producer Mexican Institute of Sound. The show will also feature watercolors from a new body of work from Morales, titled “Gemelos,” which builds on his “Undocumented Interventions” series.
