Late Surrealist couple Wolfgang Paalen and Alice Rahon are reuniting next month—in the white cube, at least. On September 10, San Francisco-based Gallery Wendi Norris will unveil “Wolfgang Paalen and Alice Rahon: Worlds Gone and to Come,” an exhibition of about a dozen artworks by Austrian-Mexican artist Paalen and French painter Rahon, largely focused on their 13-year marriage.

“Worlds Gone and to Come” will mark the first show placing these lovers in conversation, honoring the 75th anniversary of the exhibition at SFMOMA that launched Paalen’s short-lived, science-minded collective Dynaton in 1951. Six years earlier, the institution had given Rahon her first solo museum show. As such, SFMOMA is hosting a talk on September 10 titled “Unsung Surrealists: Wolfgang Paalen and Alice Rahon,” where curator Megan Kincaid and author Alexander Nemerov will discuss the couple who have long been under-recognized.
